Personal qualities of women engaged in body-oriented practices (yoga)
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The article presents the results of a comparative study of the personal qualities of women engaged in yoga. There is an increase in the popularity of this type of wellness practice in various regions of the Russian Federation due to the fact that it is aimed at improving physical and mental health. Despite the variety of yoga programs and forms of their implementation offered on the territory of the Southern Urals, the characteristics of the target group remain poorly understood, which reduces the effectiveness of popularization of this type of wellness activity. The purpose of the study is to comprehensively study and identify the specifics of the personality traits of women who regularly attend yoga classes. It was found that women who systematically practice yoga have significantly higher developed communicative personality qualities (namely, sociability and social courage). This means that yoga classes are considered by participants as an opportunity to meet, first of all, social needs, which must be taken into account in the process of popularizing yoga as a direction that contributes to improving physical and mental health.
