The article considers the features and need to increase the level of physical fitness of basketball players 17-19 years old. Analysis and assessment of the dynamics of general physical fitness of those involved in the period of study at the university is being carried out. It was revealed that basketball classes contribute to the development of high-speed and high-speed strength qualities of those involved. The obtained results confirm the importance of qualitative development of physical qualities characteristic of basketball, the development of which will increase the level of technical and tactical readiness of those involved.
