The article presents a study of an urgent problem of modern volleyball – optimization of technical training, in particular, the technique of performing the upper direct ball delivery, as part of the training process of qualified volleyball players. The authors present in a generalized form an experimental technique for improving the performance of the upper direct ball delivery by qualified volleyball players, which includes sets of exercises where each has its own accentuated content, exact dosage, a certain method of execution and organizational and methodological support. To test the effectiveness of the experimental technique developed by the authors, an assessment of the quality (technique) and effectiveness (accuracy) of performing the upper direct ball delivery by qualified volleyball players was carried out.
