The article describes the experience of applying the concept of critical swimming speed in the planning of high-intensity interval training of qualified swimmers. The use of the method for calculating intervals in the training process of swimmers of 15-16 years old made it possible to significantly increase the critical swimming speed in the experimental group by the end of the study. A tendency to increase the competitive performance of swimmers at a distance of 100 m freestyle was found. The concept of critical swimming speed can be used when planning high-intensity interval training in skilled swimmers.
