The article considers the peculiarities of the organization of the training process for young athletes of primary school age 8-9 years old engaged in sports and recreation groups, where competitions are an important component of the training process. It has been established that the most solid assimilation of fundamental skills and techniques of operational radio direction finding occurs when simple intra-school and intra-group sprint competition distances are included in the training program, starting from the first year of study. It is not advisable to apply competitive exercises in the classical disciplines of sports radio direction finding for young athletes of primary school age.
