The article substantiates the importance and relevance of the development and implementation of youth policy in modern society. According to the approved Strategy for the Implementation of Youth Policy in the Russian Federation until 2030 by President V.V. Putin, one of the priority directions is patriotic education of young people. The necessity of promoting a sense of connection to the history of the native country among student youth is analyzed in the article using the example of the historical-patriotic project "The Afghan Blizzard Whirled" at Vavilov University. In the author's opinion, only purposeful and systematic work with youth, using relevant, informative, and interesting materials from various joint projects, will help shape their sense of connection to the country's history, broaden their horizons, and instill universal values, which is crucial in the modern world.
