The article discusses physical education and sports at the university as a means of preparing students for military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The use of the results obtained in the presented research will help educators clarify certain socio-psychological factors of students' motivation to increase physical fitness and the effectiveness of the educational process.
