In the past decade, there has been a sharp escalation of confrontation between Russia and the West in all spheres of activity worldwide. This crisis is also evident in the realm of international sports (discrimination against Russian athletes), which began in December 2014 following revelations by Russian runner Yulia Stepanova, outlined in a letter addressed to WADA. Since then, Russian sports have been subjected to an "information war" by Western European media, with significant support from IOC officials, WADA, and many leading Western athletes. Furthermore, the doping scandal in Russian sports has led to the suspension of many Russian athletes from international competitions and has been used as a tool to create a negative image of Russia as a country. According to the authors of the article, the consequences of the "information war" led by officials from the IOC, international federations, and WADA against Russian athletes in the near future could lead to problems capable of undermining the entire international Olympic movement. The article is dedicated to analyzing the "information war" declared by Western media against Russian sports. Narratives revealing events and phenomena related to sports, significant for the addressees (specific categories of specialists), have been identified in the media. Negative texts from electronic media have been studied. The goal of the author's research was to determine the features of how doping scandals in Russian sports and other attacks against our athletes are presented by mass media, reflecting the information and geopolitical confrontation between Russia and the West.
