The article emphasizes the priority of preparing a child for choosing a sport before selection and sports orientation. A model for the formation of children's readiness for hockey practice is presented with an emphasis on the motivational, theoretical, and technical-physical readiness of children for hockey at the sports and recreation stage of preparation.
