The aim of the research is to study the most successful betting companies in the field of sports in the Russian Federation, and to determine the demand for this field as a potential employment opportunity for graduates of sports-related programs. Research methods: analysis of scientific and methodological literature (study of reporting and analytical materials), content analysis of materials on the internet, data from relevant websites, and student surveys. Research findings: Based on the study of the Russian sports betting market, the leading companies in this field in Russia were identified; a contradiction was found between the rapid growth and increasing influence of physical culture as a non-production service sector, and the understanding of the sports betting industry as a potential employment opportunity for modern students in sports-related fields. Training modules aimed at the formation of economic competencies can be added to educational programs in sports areas of training, which will enable graduates to conduct their professional activities in the sports industry. Understanding the identified imbalances will allow educational organizations that train specialists in physical culture and sports to restructure their activities and be more successful both in terms of attracting potential applicants and in terms of providing educational content that is relevant to the current economic situation in the Russian Federation.
