The article presents the results of an empirical study conducted in 2023 at the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines named after V.A. Ageevets as part of the research work on the topic "Prospects for the development of the paradigm of humanitarian education as a system for the formation of moral ideals and civic position of graduates of a physical culture and sports university". The purpose of the study was to identify the existing level of students' ideas about patriotism and citizenship of students. The presented data analysis allows us to conclude that the fields of physical education and physical training have great potential for developing a concept of patriotic education and fostering citizenship in in universities in the field of physical culture and sports.
