Improving the quality of mastering fighting techniques is one of the urgent problems of educational institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. To do this, it is necessary to revise the content of the section "Combat fighting techniques" of the exemplary program of the discipline (module) "Physical training", as well as the structure of the lesson. The article deals with the main problems of the content of the section "Combat techniques of struggle", its shortcomings are revealed, the structure of the training session is considered, its shortcomings are revealed. To solve this problem, it is proposed to use a modular technology for building a program, a block structure for organizing and conducting a training session. These approaches are carried out within the framework of the formation of a professional sports culture of the individual, which can significantly increase the efficiency of the work carried out
