In the course of the study, a retrospective analysis of the formation of the Spartakiad, which originated in the USSR, was carried out. The causes of their origin and features of their implementation are studied. In addition, a positive attitude of the participants of the Spartakiad of the Union State among the students of Russia and Belarus in 2022, Volgograd, to the revival of the Spartakiad in Russia and on the territory of the Union States was revealed. Based on the opinions of the respondents, the authors developed recommendations for organizing All-Russian and Union Spartakiads aimed at popularizing and promoting universal values, ideals of spiritual beauty and nobility, as well as observing the fundamental principles of Olympism. The main ways to create a system of competitions are proposed, which will make it possible to exclude the complete isolation of Russian athletes from participation in international sporting events and from the opportunity to compete with the world's leading athletes
