The article is devoted to the consideration of the main professional, qualification characteristics interpreted in the study as the most significant components of the model of a teacher of a modern university, mediated by the opinion of students as the main consumers of educational services. The methodological basis of the study was the method of systematic analysis of sociological information obtained by conducting a questionnaire survey of students, whose expert opinion allows us to form an idea of the most sought-after professional qualities of a modern teacher and the features of their practical application.
