Today, the use of digital technologies in physical education and sports makes them more interesting and exciting. According to the authors, such technologies help improve the motivation of students, increase their interest in classes, and also contribute to improving the effectiveness of education at all levels of the educational process. In this article, the authors compare the use of digital technologies in universities in the Samara region with other regions of the country and the use of information technology zones during training in the discipline of physical education and sports. However, it must be remembered that any technology has its drawbacks and limitations. Therefore, the authors conclude that when introducing digital technologies in physical education and sports, teachers should consider the characteristics of students and correctly select electronic means and methods that will be most effective for this contingent of students in universities.
