The comprehensive development of personality is inextricably linked with the improvement of the general culture of people. The process of harmonious formation of a student's personality takes place within the walls of a higher educational institution under the influence of surrounding people, especially teachers. The student's attitude to science is formed by many teachers of specialized and general disciplines, and it is not an easy task of a physical education teacher to educate a student who leads a healthy lifestyle and instill in him a love of sports. The article examines the role of a physical education teacher in the process of becoming a student's personality. The authors emphasize that physical culture is necessary not only for maintaining health, but also for the formation of stable personal qualities, such as self-discipline, responsibility, purposefulness, courage, etc. It is important for a physical education teacher not only to teach students the techniques and rules of sports games, but also to help them develop as individuals, encouraging selfdevelopment and self-knowledge. Not only success in sports depends on it, but also in life in general. The article provides examples and methods of work of physical education teachers that help students achieve personal and professional goals, as well as strengthen their health.
