There are about 16 million adolescents in Russia, and they have a responsibility to preserve, develop and transmit moral values and cultural heritage to future generations. Taking into account the value orientations of adolescents in educational and upbringing work, the use of appropriate techniques and methods of training and education will, on the one hand, increase the effectiveness of educational activities and improve their results and, on the other hand, influence the process of formation of the "right" value orientations. The study focuses on the topic of the values of high school students, the role of school education in shaping these values and their impact on future life prospects. The sources for making conclusions and judgements in this work include research carried out among senior pupils, the scientific experience of scientists and also public opinion and judgement on the subject matter. The study involved 54 high school students aged 16-18; the gender composition of the sample was 37% male and 63% female. The adolescents adopt the values that were close to their parents, but make their own adjustments. The approach of today's students is more individualistic, the family is a supporting factor for them, realising their potential in work and creativity comes to the fore, and they are characterised by a more pragmatic lifestyle. The study of the value dimension revealed that the most important values for adolescents are the values of personal life, where they considered their physical well-being, the presence of a circle of close friends and a large number of friends, in the future they consider it important to build a family, the foundation of which will be love and mutual understanding. As a result, it was concluded that adolescents are active, ambitious, have a positive outlook on the future, both their own and the state in general, they are ready to work, realize their creative potential, look for something new. The educational environment has a positive influence on the formation of values, but difficulties arise due to the clash of interests of different generations.
