The article is devoted to the problem of coping behavior of mothers in substitute families. The factors influencing the development of coping behavior in parents are described. The analysis of the specifics of child-parent relations in substitute families is presented, typical coping strategies used by mothers in the process of interacting with a child in the conditions of guardianship or adoption are considered. Coping behavior of mothers is considered as a factor determining the conditions for successful adaptation of children in substitute families. The study of the theoretical aspects of the problem makes it possible to carry out the process of psychological support of foster parents, allows them to significantly increase the level of their ability to cope with stress and difficulties in the process of upbringing.
