This work deals with the organization of practical classes in hand-to-hand combat within the discipline "Physical Training" and the importance of combat training skills for cadets of the Academy of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. The article focuses on issues related to the specifics of an educational institution and the importance of training cadets in the section on hand-to-hand combat in the structure of the discipline "Physical training" of employees of the penal system. The analysis of academic performance of cadets of 1-5 courses of the Academy of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the framework of studying the section on hand-to-hand combat was made and conclusions were drawn.
