The paper presents the results of empirical study of personality traits of students with different types of academic motivation, as it is the one that directly affects the quality of education. The study allowed to establish a greater expression of intrinsic academic motivation of students in comparison with extrinsic, as well as to identify a number of personal features of psychological factor, which have a significant impact on academic motivation, among which both positive and negative indicators are recorded. Revealing the specificity of academic motivation and personal features of students will allow to purposefully monitor those priorities, goals and personal qualities of a student, which will contribute to the optimization of his learning activity.
