Introduction: the article presents the structural components and features of the formation cadets’ psychological stability of the Academy of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, highlights the methods used to develop cadets’ emotional and cognitive stability and self-regulation. The purpose of the study: to study the level and peculiarities of the formation of cadets’ psychological stability at the Academy of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. Methodology and organization of the study: 80 cadets participated in the study. A set of methods was used: the reactive and personal anxiety scale of Ch. D. Spielberg, Yu. L. Khanin, the methods for determining stress resistance and social adaptation (T. Holms, R. Rage), the RSM-25 stress scale. The results of the study and their discussion: the phenomenon of "cadets’ psychological stability" was considered, features and methods of its formation for cadets at the Academy of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia were highlighted. Conclusions: cadets’ psychological stability is based on the their individual ability and effectively adapts to stress, maintains emotional balance, controls his emotions and responds flexibly to changing working conditions
