Abstract:
Introduction. Admission to a higher educational institution in most cases is accompanied by a radical change in the life of a young person. This is due to a change in the learning procedure in comparison with school, with higher requirements for mastering the material, with a significant increase in the volume of new material, with numerous fears and lack of skills to establish communication with a large number of new people. This problem requires the search for effective ways to accelerate and facilitate the adaptation of first-year students. The purpose of the study. The purpose of this study is to identify social and psychological factors that affect the success of adaptation of first-year students. The methodology and organization of the study. 100 1st year students of Samara State Medical University took part in the study. Research methods: questionnaires, testing. Mathematical analysis of the data was carried out using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. Research results and discussion. First-year students at the initial stage of adaptation tend to increase the indicators of situational anxiety, which, in turn, leads to dissatisfaction with themselves, a new situation, communication with new people and educational and household activities. Conclusions. 1. During the period of adaptation of first-year students, they have an increase in indicators of situational anxiety, in particular, emotional discomfort, asthenia, anxious assessment of prospects; 2. First-year students at the stage of adaptation have a decrease in satisfaction with themselves, the situation in which they are, communication, as well as educational and household activities; 3. Living in a dormitory reduces the success of students' adaptation, and seeking help from undergraduate tutors contributes to an increase in self-satisfaction, communication and educational and household activities
