FEATURES OF THE RELATIONSHIP OF SOCIALLY DISAPPROVED CHARACTERISTICS OFFRESH-YEAR STUDENTS AND THEIR LEVEL OF ADAPTATION IN A SPORTS UNIVERSITY

Abstract:
Introduction. One of the tasks of the psychological service of the Ural State University of Physical Culture is the adaptation of first-year students. The set of relevant activities includes pilot socio-psychological testing to identify students belonging to various risk groups, as well as research to identify students who have difficulty adapting both to the group and to educational activities. In accordance with the results obtained, the content of the work of the department of extracurricular and educational work, student associations, as well as the content of the psychological disciplines of the sports university is adjusted. The purpose of the study is to study the relationship between socially disapproved character traits of first-year students and their level of adaptation at a sports university. Methodology and organization of the study. The work used the methods of «Adaptation of students at a university» by T.D. Dubovitskaya and the pilot socio-psychological testing questionnaire of VI. Sidorchuk. 166 first-year students of Ural State University of Physical Culture took part in the study. For each student, nine indicators were recorded - two on the method of adaptation to the study group and to educational activities, and seven indicators reflecting the level of manifestation of socially disapproved character traits. Research results and discussion. A negative correlation was revealed between the level of adaptation at the university and suicidal risk, social pessimism, aggressive behavior and demonstrativeness. A positive relationship was identified between high rates of certain socially disapproved character traits of freshmen. Conclusions. The identified relationships make it possible to formulate the tasks of the psychological service of the university to increase the level of adaptation of first-year students both to the group and to educational activities, as well as to correct socially disapproved character traits
