The purpose of the work is to study the attitude of specialists in the field of physical culture and sports to professional skill competitions. The results of the study. The peculiarities of the attitude of specialists in the field of physical culture and sports to professional skill competitions are revealed. The desire to participate in professional skill competitions was found in the majority of respondents (87%).The survey participants consider the competition to be a form of searching for the best pedagogical experience (63%) and professional development (50.6%), where there is an opportunity to acquire valuable professional skills and abilities. The leading motives for participation in professional skill competitions are: the development of professional competencies and the acquisition of new knowledge (28.78%), gaining experience in new activities related to participation in competitive tests (22.4%). The range of problems requiring solutions in the field of special scientific and methodological training of specialists in the field of physical culture and sports is determined. Conclusions. The vast majority of specialists in the field of physical culture and sports have a positive attitude to professional skill competitions and express their willingness to participate in them, 9.44% of teachers already have experience of participation. In the opinion of most specialists, professional skill contests are, first of all, a form of searching for the best pedagogical experience and a form of professional development. Not all specialists in the field of physical culture and sports clearly understand what skills and abilities they can master and implement in the conditions of a professional skills competition. A significant part of the participants of professional skill contests, from among the specialists in the field of physical culture and sports, have difficulties in passing competitive events and need special scientific and methodological training
