RISKS OF SUICIDAL BEHAVIOR AMONG MEDICAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
Introduction: the article presents the results of the study aimed at identifying suicidal risks among medical university students. In the modern world, 700-800 thousand people per year die from suicide, and suicide attempts are made 10 times more often. In addition, it is imperative to note that students are at risk because they are establishing their life values, moral norms, and ideas about the future. This deprives them of support, strengthens their sense of powerlessness and suggestibility. The burden and suggestion from teachers of responsibility for the correct diagnosis stimulates the development of anxiety, depression. This reduces the quality of life and increases the risk of suicide. However, playing sports, hobbies, and getting enough sleep can reduce suicidal risks, and the most appropriate time for this is the holidays. The purpose of the study was to identify the risk of suicidal behavior among medical university students before and after the holidays. It has been hypothesized that suicidal risk decreases after summer vacation. The methodology and organization of the study: hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS), individual typological questionnaire by L.N. Sobchik, D. Russell and M. Ferguson’s subjective feeling of loneliness technique, suicide risk questionnaire (modified by T.N. Razuvaeva), Aleksandrovich’s symptomatic questionnaire, the scale for psychological express diagnostics of the level of neuroticism, A. Beck’s scale of suicidal intentions. Conclusions: medical university students have pronounced suicidal risk, vacations are not effective enough to remove the suicidal risk
