The article analyzes the phenomenon of "distance" as a characteristic of human relations, considers the main approaches to determining all types of distance, considering their functions and components. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the phenomenon of virtual distance, as well as the consequences of its violation. The data on the structure, content and causes of the emergence and dynamics of different types of distance of subjects of natural communication were given. The conclusion was formulated about the need to establish the favorable distance for constructive social interaction
