Determination of the performance skills’ level of the world and Russian women’s gymnastics leaders on the balance beam at the end of the Olympic cycle 2022–2024

Abstract (English):
The purpose of the study – determination of the exercises content’s components and the level of performing skills on the balance beam among the leaders of world gymnastics in comparison with Russian female gymnasts in the 2024 Olympic year. Research methods and organization: the methods of analysis and generalization of the main competitions results at the end of the Olympic cycle – the 2023 World Championships, the 2024 Continental Championships and Olympic Games, the 2024 Russian Championships and Cup of Russia; expert assessment and refereeing of the main All-Russian tournaments; statistical processing of the received materials were used. Research results and conclusions. In the course of the study, it was determined that the gymnasts’ performances results in the balance beam final at the Paris Olympics turned out to be the least predictable. The female gymnast with the highest E-score (Execution) became the champion, losing to potential leaders in the D-score (Difficulty). Russian female gymnasts in conditions of international isolation do not lag far behind the world leaders in both of these scores.
