The purpose of the study is to identify the features of adaptation to physical load in students classified as belonging to special medical groups due to their health status and to assess their impact on the functional state of the body. Research methods and organization. Methods of analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature, surveys, physiological research methods, and mathematical statistics methods were used. The study was conducted during classes in applied physical culture for students of a special medical group. Research results and conclusions. The identified during the study lowest level of adaptive potential in students with cardiovascular and gastrointestinal diseases, as well as low scores in tests reflecting the functional state of the respiratory system, led to the conclusion that this group of students requires correction of their motor regimen, i.e., an increase in the share of physical load appropriate to their functional state, taking into account contraindications associated with these diseases. The results obtained allowed for the development of practical recommendations for physical education instructors working with individuals with various health deviations.
