The article discusses the relevance and significance of studying the processes of formation of sensory-perceptual and psychomotor abilities in children of senior preschool age with mental retardation (MDD). The article describes a diagnostic technique using the program “Human Temporal and Spatial Properties Researcher” (HSP) and motor tests. The results of the study made it possible to see the characteristic features of the psychomotor and sensory-perceptual development of each child, which allows us to further outline ways of development and correction of these functions for successful adaptation in the educational environment and subsequent life.
