Individual psychological features of the motivational sphere of athletes
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The article presents a study of the individual psychological characteristics of athletes' motivational sphere in order to identify mechanisms and incentives that influence their sports activities. The necessity of considering these characteristics in training planning, motivational programs development, and psychological support for athletes is justified. The importance of understanding motivational features for an individual approach to athletes, increasing their motivation, and achieving higher sports results is emphasized. The "Motives for Sports Participation" method by A.V. Shaboltas was used to identify dominant goals (personal meanings) in sports activities. The results of the diagnosis indicated a predominance of motives such as "physical self-assertion," "emotional pleasure," "rational-volitional," and "preparation for professional activities". According to the authors, further research in this field will be important for enriching knowledge about the influence of motivation on sports performance and for developing effective methods of psychological support for athletes.
