At present, the problem of evaluating the effectiveness of scientific activity with the help of biblio-metric indicators has become particularly relevant, since these indicators, additionally supplemented by expert opinions, have been used at all stages of science management. The article touches upon the problem related to the application of basic indicators of scientometrics (related to the field of bibliometrics) for assessing the scientific activities of teachers in an educational organization of higher education (EOHE). The data concerning the comparative evaluation of such indicators as "number of publications", "number of citations" and "Hirsch index", which are characteristic of higher education teachers classified by qualification categories, age and gender groups, are given.
