The purpose of the study is to determine the basic content of the competitive activity of young fencers. Research methods: analysis and generalization of literary sources, pedagogical observation, and systematization of empirical knowledge on the fundamentals of organizing the training process of fencers at the initial training stage, with the determination of the basic content by types of athlete preparation. Research results and conclusions. It has been identified that at the initial training stage of fencers, competitive activity is a significant component of the training process, purposefully activating the functioning of various internal systems of the body, taking into account specific types of athlete preparation and the characteristic practical actions of young fencers, which constitute the basic content of competitive activity.
