With the rapid development of China's economy and the improvement of living standards, more and more people began to pay attention to the importance of playing sports. As a national sport, basketball has become one of the most popular sports among Chinese teenagers and children, especially due to the popularization and promotion of high school basketball, which is developing very quickly. The article presents the main milestones in the development and formation of high school basketball in China, generalization and analysis of the development of high school basketball in terms of three aspects of national policy, basketball competition and education reform, as well as forecasting the future development prospects and potential of Chinese high school basketball.
