Relevance. Training in higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia requires students to be independent. This circumstance necessitates the development of a pedagogical system with the strengthening of self-educational activities of cadets. Based on the data of modern research and analysis of literary sources, several contradictions can be identified: between the high requirements for the level of knowledge, skills and abilities of cadets of educational organizations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the lack of methodological developments on the formation of skills for organizing independent physical training; between the need to maintain a high level of physical fitness of officers during the performance of official tasks and the insufficient level of knowledge, skills and skills of organizing independent physical training. The presented circumstances determine the relevance of the study and determine the purpose of the study to develop pedagogical recommendations for the formation of skills for organizing independent physical training. Organization and methods of research. The pedagogical experiment was conducted on the basis of the Belgorod Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the I.D. Putilin Law Institute. Cadets and students took part in it. To assess the level of mastering the skills to organize independent physical training, a questionnaire was conducted. The results of the study. Of all the assessed skills, Gnostic skills received the highest score. This emphasizes that knowledge that should be relevant has an important role in the organization of independent physical training. Organizational skills are quite important. Conclusion. Within the framework of classes, it is necessary to solve the tasks of forming the self-educational competence of cadets. This will allow, upon graduation, not to experience difficulties in organizing and conducting independent physical training to maintain a high level of physical fitness
