The article provides a justification for the fallacy of the approach to the formation of the content of the subject «Physical Culture» based on the inclusion of modules based on various sports. It is shown that one of the main reasons for the low effectiveness of the subject «Physical Culture» are inadequate ideas about its capabilities and main purpose, an erroneous focus on the performance of training functions, for the implementation of which the lesson is poorly adapted, and in fact complete disregard of the truly educational content, for the implementation of which it primarily exists
