The purpose of the study is to test the effectiveness of independent physical education classes for the development of physical qualities in students of middle school age. The following methods were used in the study: observation; testing of general physical fitness; methods of mathematical processing. Due to the pandemic, most students showed a low level of physical fitness. This fact indicates that a sedentary lifestyle negatively affects the physical activity of children. Thus, it is necessary to develop self-study programs to increase the level of physical activity, taking into account not only the individual characteristics of children, but also during the period of self-isolation
