An analysis of an empirical study is presented, the main purpose of which was to assess the degree of contribution of some socio-demographic family characteristics to the variability of indicators of higher mental functions of children and to determine those family parameters that can be considered as systemic bases for predicting the development of children's functions. As such factors, socio-demographic characteristics of the family were tested - the level of material wealth, the level of parental education, the child's sex and sibling position. One of the most significant predictors, determining the largest share of the environmental variance of individual differences in the development of higher mental functions of children, was the factor of material well-being of the family
higher mental functions, preschoolers, socio-demographic factors, material level of the family, parental education, sibling position
