The purpose of the study is to logically organize the structure of the components of an athlete's physical training system. Research methods and organization: study of the planning documents of the training process for cross-country skiers, synthesis of scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical experiment, methods of hardware-functional diagnostics, testing the level of physical fitness of skiers, mathematical data processing. The research has been organized and carried out in training groups of cross-country skiers and track and field athletes. Research results and conclusions. The main components that constitute the structure of the presented athlete physical training system have been identified and logically organized. A characterization of the coordination mechanisms and organizational components of the physical training system is provided. The components of the system are substantively justified: target settings, content, technology, and the results of physical training. The author's model of the physical training system has been verified in the training process of cross-country skiers and track athletes. The results obtained allow for the conclusion regarding the effectiveness of its application in the educational and training process of athletes in cyclic sports.
