The article examines the problems of activating the cognitive activity of students in the educational process of higher education; analyzes the effectiveness of the methodology of the test fund of evaluation tools; The key indicators of stimulating the cognitive activity of students are substantiated, which include: objectification of the assessment of special knowledge, independent choice of control questions, assessment of the quality of answers from fellow students, set targets, the integration potential of studying a specialized discipline and research on selected topics, educational opportunities for interaction in the systemic educational process and the content and semantic contours of stimulating practical actions are determined.
