Continuous improvement of military professional education requires changes in pedagogical diagnostics in the activities of teachers of military institutes of the National Guard troops. The purpose of the article is to study the experience of using pedagogical diagnostics as a necessary condition for comprehensive personal development, effective education, upbringing and psychological training of cadets. In solving the problems of the study, the essence, tasks, features and directions of the development of pedagogical diagnostics in the activities of a military teacher are considered. On the basis of the conducted research and analysis of the key points, it was concluded that the main way of developing pedagogical diagnostics in the activity of teachers should be aimed at personal and military-professional development, self-determination, formation of socially significant and professionally important moral and psychological qualities in cadets.
